Tirol

The province of Tirol is dominated by the precipitous peaks of the Alps.

Tirol is divided into North Tirol and East Tirol (Osttirol); South Tirol was ceded to Italy in 1919. The province borders on Switzerland, Germany and Italy as well as the provinces of Vorarlberg, Salzburg and Carinthia.
