Nature parks in the SalzburgerLand province

The Power of Nature in the Riedingtal valley in the Lungau region
The Riedingtal valley in the Lungau region is a popular outing destination thanks to its pristine beauty. The nature park is characterized by its harmonious blend of largely unspoilt nature and man-made yet very natural landscapes. One of the highlights here is the opportunity for game observations. Both on the mountains and in the valleys there are plenty of interpretive panels providing information on the local flora and fauna, on biotopes and on agriculture in the Riedingtal valley. The Nature Park Center and the Brünnwandquellen viewing platform are excellent places to go for nature lovers.

Untersberg Nature Park – Salzburg/Grödig
The Untersberg Nature Park is the first nature park in the province of Salzburg whose center was declared a nature park in the regulation of the Salzburg regional government issued on Jan 31, 1983.
The Mayr Melnhof landowner family provided the site for the facilities in the Untersberg Nature Park for free, thus creating an attractive recreational opportunity for the people.
The forestal Kneipp facility located between the Latschenwirt inn and the Bruchhäusl hut constantly attracts a myriad of people who want to pamper their body according to the rules set by the priest Kneipp.
On the forest quiz trail you have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge on forests and their inhabitants.
The two fitness trails close to the Wartberg and the Latschenwirt inns, which were designed according to the latest findings of sports medicine, are perfectly suited for all ages and levels, for amateur athletes, for recreation-seekers who are not experienced in physical exercise as well as for sports enthusiasts.
Different hiking trails, such as the Eichenweg (oak trail), Tannenweg (fir trail), Hasenweg (bunny trail), Dachsweg (badger trail) and Falkenweg (falcon trail) perfectly lend themselves to explore the impressive nature and landscape at the foot of the Untersberg mountain.

Weißbach Nature Park
On July 22, 2007, the Weißbach Nature Park in the lower Saalachtal valley in the Pinzgau region in the province of Salzburg was inaugurated and officially declared a nature park.
The Weißbach nature park is number three in the trio of the nature parks in Salzburg. Protected landscapes, where human beings act as designers in cooperation with nature over decades, have the chance to be officially declared a nature park. In summer 2005, experts started to plan the park, constantly integrating very much the local population. Since autumn 2006, the first projects from the conservation and creation plan have been implemented. This process has constantly been monitored by a regional expert.

With its three joint pastures (Litzlalm, Kallbrunnalm and Kammerlingalm pastures), the Seisenbergklamm gorge, the Gerhardstein mountain and the Hintertal valley, the municipality of Weißenbach features stunning cultivated and natural landscapes. The aesthetic attractiveness of this cultivated and natural landscape in the Weißbach Nature Park shall be preserved, further developed and made accessible to everyone as recreational and educational area. The municipality of Weißbach cordially invites everyone to explore the nature park and to spend an eventful day with a varied and entertaining program comprising games, culinary delights and much more. The program for the opening day can be downloaded at www.naturpark-weissbach.at.

Buchberg Nature Park Project
The 801-m Buchberg mountain right next to the village of Mattsee ranks among the most impressive vantage mountains in the Salzburger Seenland lake region. Already 30 years ago, it was officially declared a nature park. A network of marked and signposted hiking trails of 30 kilometers in total gives access to a myriad of vantage points, extended forests and versatile pastures. 7 lakes are idyllically located at the foot of the Buchberg mountain and around 120 mountain peaks reaching as far as to the Dachstein mountain can be seen when the sky is clear.
