Heart-thumping action for boarders

Why deal with two planks strapped to your feet when one is all you need for doing a dreamrun down a chute in Innsbruck's Nordpark. It's a boarders paradise...

The Tyrolean capital, with its 25 holiday villages, offers snowboarders a true eldorado. Home to twice-snowboarding world champion, Martin Freinademetz, the Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck knows exactly what good snowboarding terrain means – safety included!

Slopes and cliffs with untouched powder for experts and extremists, but also gentle runs for beginners – everyone will find the right terrain in the snowboard funparks. Axamer Lizum, already famous as one of the best freeride areas in the Innsbruck region, holds its own special challenges. Here there is a fun park, with numerous jumps and rails and a particularly interesting attraction: the “gun barrel“. This is a giant, natural half-pipe with steep, up-to-10-metre high walls, which snakes down the edge of the ski slope for about 2.5 kilometres almost into the valley.

Completely unspoilt, dream terrain awaits snowboarders at Schlick 2000 in the Stubai valley with the “Nature Ride Jump Race”.

The Nordpark-Seegrube region on the north side of Innsbruck, has been thrilling the Austrian and international snowboarding scene for many years already and for some time now the freeskier scene too. The Skyline Funpark has a huge range of rails to offer. These include double straight jumps and corner wall rides, as well as a fantastic 120-metre long and 5.5-metre high super pipe (only a handful of these exist in the entire Alpine region) and an interesting selection of obstacles.

A terrific choice of half and quarter pipes, straight jumps, spine and tabletop are also offered on the Stubai Glacier while Rangger Köpfl is equally appealing with its attractive snow and fun park featuring corner-rails, big air and rail lines.
