Innsbruck - Olympic ski mecca

From city shops to mountain tops - spectacular new rides link the city with the mountains in only 20 minutes!

Ski Innsbruck!

Imagine having lunch in town, browse the shops - and then change to a mountain restaurant for a leisurely afternoon coffee. Or maybe the other way round? Do some early runs in the morning and then go for breakfast in a cozy cafe at Innsbruck's old town square...

The new Nordkettenbahn funicular will take just 20 minutes for the ride from the city centre to an altitude of 2.300m. Stunning at day - magical at night. Go up to the Seegrube restaurant for a dinner above the lights of Innsbruck and sit on eye level with the alpine mountain skyline.

Innsbruck's Olympic past ensures passionate skiers benefit from a number of clear advantages. A total of nine ski regions covering 285 kilometres of slopes are made accessible by the 80 cable-cars and lifts. The wide variety of slopes guarantees unbeatable skiing fun and snow security for everyone: Gentle slopes in sunny Kühtai, Austria's highest ski resort on 2.020m, wide carving runs on Stubai glacier and Olympic slopes & powder chutes for daredevils.

Ten ski schools in and around Innsbruck will be happy to introduce you and your family to the fabulous world of winter sports or help you improve your technique in theory and practice. Skis and boots as well as any other necessary equipment are also available here for rent. Moreover, the countless rustic inns and mountain huts dotted across this unique Tyrolean winter sports region guarantee their guests a warm and hospitable welcome.

Have a look at the great ski-packages on offer for Australians and New Zealanders for the winter season 2008/09. More.

What’s also really special about Innsbruck and its ski villages is that you automatically become a member of this winter wonderland from your first night's stay with the "Club Innsbruck Card". Not only are holders of this advantageous card entitled to reductions on ski-passes and single lift rides, but they may also make free use of ski and cross-country busses.
Don’t forget the advantages of the "Innsbruck Card" either. This card is available at an extremely reasonable price for either 24, 48 or 72 hours and enables holders to use public transport in Innsbruck and Hall free of charge as well as grants free ascent/descent on the Nordkette, Patscherkofel and Hungerburg cable-cars (without winter sports equipment). The Innsbruck Card also opens the doors to the city's museums and sights.
