Rainer-Regiments-Museum

The 900-year old Festung Hohensalzburg, Salzburg’s landmark, towers on a rocky ridge above the city which it literally dominates. Originally built to protect the clergy and the local population, the fortress has been accommodating the Rainer-Regiments-Museum since 1924. Ten large halls present tokens, relicts and mementos from times of peace and war. Another focus is on the special achievements and triumphs of the “Erzherzog Rainer” k.u.k. infantry regiment No 59.
Other highlights include the princely rooms and the fortress and puppet museum.
