Austria's Longest Toboggan Runs
The Ski-Arena Wildkogel is located in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps and is easily – and toll free – accessible. Wildkogel offers breathtaking views of the 3000-meter high peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Grossvenediger (3674m). With the “world’s probably longest toboggan run”, the Ski-Arena boasts an absolute winter highlight. Ascent to the toboggan runs is made easy thanks to the Wildkogelbahn gondolas. Tobogganing ticket: aduls and youths Euro 6, children Euro 3.
After a short walk of about 15 minutes towards Wildkogelhaus you reach the start of the toboggan track which boasts an incredible length of 14 kilometers and a vertical drop of 1300 meters down to Bramberg. Whether race sled, family sled or bob: the choice of vehicle is all yours! Depending on your tobogganing skills it takes about 30 to 50 minutes to reach Bamberg. By the way: the entire run is floodlit until 10pm.

Zipping down a hill on a sled in the Karwendel Silver Region offers exhilarating fun for young and old – especially when a free shuttle bus or lift help you overcome the steep and strenuous uphill approach. Before heading down the sled track you can warm up and refuel at a hut. Depending on the snow conditions, the region offers between 15 and 20 sled tracks; with 8 kilometers the one from the Weidener Hütte being Tirol’s longest! What’s best: sledding is not limited to the day! Torchlit sledding is offered at Alpengasthof Loas on Hochpillberg (Wednesdays, 9pm to 11pm) and a night sled race in Stans (Thursdays, 8.30pm) – both activities form part of SILVERcard program. Rental sleds are usually readily available at either your host or the mountain huts.
Karwendel Silver Region
Schladming, the Styrian sports capital, and Rohrmoos, the family ski area in the Dachstein-Tauern region, combine to create on of Austria’s largest ski areas, famous for its many international world cup ski races. Besides the longest floodlit toboggan run (3 kilometers), Schladming also boasts Styria’s longest natural toboggan track: 7 kilometers long, open night and day. Toboggans are available for hire at three shops next to the Hochwurzen top station.

Meanwhile word got around that you should not come to Ischgl in Paznauntal if looking for peace and relaxation. It comes as no surprise that the town offers one of the Tirolean Alps’ longest toboggan runs (7 kilometers). Floodlit tobogganing fun is offered on Monday and Thursday nights.

In the SalzburgerLand region, the car-free town of Werfenweng sports a 6-kilometer long toboggan run.
