Nature Parks in Upper Austria

Trekking in the Rechberg Nature Park
The Rechberg nature park is located in the Mühlviertel’s south-east and offers plenty of interesting biotopes to delight the nature lover including stone meadows, wetlands, natural grasslands, anmoor (a type of soil which is rich in minerals) and swamplands. But what makes the 317 ha nature park really special are its striking rock formations and and rocking stones which sit like islands amid dry grasslands, bushes and trees. Center of the nature park is Großdöllnerhof, a 400-year old stone Dreiseithof (a type of building that usually consists of three single-storey tracts which surround a courtyard), which since its renovation in 1997 serves as farmhouse museum and venue for various events. The nature park can be explored on easy footpaths or various mountain bike trails varying in difficulty. Available by prior arrangement: escorted hikes and themed walks like “Wilderness Trekking”, “Experience the Forest”, “Experience Water” or “Excurion to the Past”.
