The official fan zone of the host city of Vienna will extend from the town hall square (Rathausplatz) via the Ring Boulevard (Ringstraße) to the Heldenplatz square. Here, up to 70,000 enthusiastic football fans will be able to experience live the excitement of all 31 UEFA EURO 2008™ games on nine giant LED screens on a surface of around 100,000 square meters. The fan zone will be completely fenced in for security reasons. Access will be free of charge!
The Viennese fan zone will be open from June 7 until June 29, 2008, from 9am to 12midnight and can be accessed via five gates (Heldenplatz square/Burgring boulevard, Lichtenfelsgasse lane/town hall square (Rathausplatz), Dr.-Karl-Lueger-Ring boulevard/corner Grillparzerstraße street,Josef-Meinrad-Platz square and Heldenplatz square/Michaelertor gate). The two largest video screens with a surface of around 70 square meters will be set up right in front of the town hall and at the Heldenplatz square heading towards the Imperial Palace (Hofburg).
Viennese fan zones at a glance
The entertainment program comprises a rich culinary offer as well as manifold stage performances. In the morning, a special program for kids and youngsters is offered from 9am. Kindergartens and schools from all over Vienna are invited to take part in the many varied activities!
At 6pm, the fan zone will be transformed into the venue of the live broadcasts. At 12midnight, the fan zone will be closed and access will be denied to visitors.
