Two fan zones are being prepared. The grounds at the Klagenfurt Exhibition Centre and the Neuer Platz square in the center of the old city of Klagenfurt will offer space for 28,000 visitors. Live broadcasts of all matches, bands, fun and entertainment are planned for the entire time of the EURO from June 7 to 29, 2008.
The fan zone of the UEFA EURO 2008™ will be officially opened on June 6, 2008.
Besides the official fan zones at the grounds of the Klagenfurt Exhibition Centre and the Neuer Platz square in the center of the old city of Klagenfurt, the entire city center within the ring boulevard will be officially declared a fan zone. Between June 7 and 16, 2008, when the three matches are taking place in Klagenfurt, the fan zone will be a traffic-free area on the match days from 1pm.
The fan zone on the exhibition grounds covers a space of approx. 10,000 m2 to accommodate up to 20,000 visitors. The fan zone will be open daily from 2:00 in the afternoon until midnight. There will be live showings of all matches of the UEFA EURO 2008™ on a 60m²-video screen. A comprehensive support program (DJs, concerts, activities organised by sponsors, and performances by artists) will ensure that all target groups will also be offered great entertainment when there are no matches.
The Neuer Platz square, located directly in front of the City Hall and around the city's landmark, the Lindwurm dragon, offers 3,000m² of space to accommodate 6,000 fans. The fan zone will be open from 9:00 in the morning until midnight.
Here, all matches will also be broadcast live on a 40m²-video screen. An exclusive fringe program will be offered in a two-storey VIP tent.
