Cashpoint Legends' Cup

The soccer match that took place on 21 June 1978 in Córdoba/ Argentina awent down in history as the Córdoba Disgrace (from a German point of view) or Córdoba '78 (from the Austrian point of view). The German soccer team – reigning world champions at that time – lost to the Austrian national team 2:3 and where therefore eliminated from the cup.
This year’s European soccer championships will be unofficially opened with an absolute highlight: a revival of the old country match Austria vs. Germany, the Cashpoint Legends’ Cup! On 24 May at 5:30 pm parts of the old teams will meet at the soccer stadium in Bregenz to battle it out once more. The players have been around for a bit since that match, but they still no how to kick a ball. Austria’s team coach, Herbert Prohaska, managed to get some younger players for this match including Andi Herzog, Toni Polster, Peter Pacult and Franz Wohlfahrt.
