First birthday for Ischgl's VIP Club

The Tirolean village, set in Austria's beautiful Paznaun Valley, was the first Alpine resort to introduce a VIP club for skiers and boarders.
The Club is based in the heart of the Ischgl skiing area at Idalp, near the top stations of the Silvrettabahn and Fimbabahn gondolas.
Here, members have their own luxurious 'clubhouse', where they can enjoy their own gourmet dining room and lounge in fabulous surroundings. They have the benefit of free testing of the latest ski equipment from the Silvretta Test Centre – they just show their VIP card.
Gear can be kept in privately-reserved lockers on the mountain and down at the village.
Members can take the opportunity to have free ski guides, who will take them to the best powder stashes and get them there for fresh tracks! Twice a week there is free transport to take part in the VIP toboggan night, with free toboggans back down to the valley on Ischgl's famous seven-kilometre run.
The VIP restaurant is also available to VIP Club members for private parties.
Among other extras is the opportunity to test drive a Porsche – the car firm is one of the Club's sponsors, along with Chiemsee clothing and Suunto watches. Members receive a Chiemsee VIP Club jacket, a Suunto watch and an elegant VIP Club key chain as part of their membership package. As well as a reserved parking space in the Silvretta underground garage near the gondola station in the village.
The annual fee for membership for the 07-08 season is Euro 990 (approx 673 GBP), with a one-time registration fee of Euro 1,900 (approx 1,292 GBP).
Paznaun tourist director Andreas Steibl said: "We're very proud and pleased that the VIP Club is such a success. It's in a beautiful renovated building in the middle of the skiing area – and the fact that we were the first Alpine resort to introduce this type of club shows that Ischgl is a leader with such innovative ideas."
Ischgl's 07-08 season runs from 30 November to 4 May.
The main UK tour operators to Ischgl are Inghams, Crystal and Ski Independence. Have a look at www.ischgl.com for more information on Ischgl.
