Austrian law recognises only civil weddings as legally valid. Church vows can be exchanged after a civil ceremony has taken place.
As the document requirements for civil weddings differ with the registry offices, it is advisable to contact the Austrian Consulate General on (+44 0) 20 7344 0290 or to write to the Austrian Embassy:
