Spa FAQS

Advance Booking
If possible, it is always best to book the treatments you want before you arrive, as the resort and hotel spas often fill up fast. In that way, you can choose the time of day that you prefer.

What to wear
Hotels usually provide a bathrobe, slippers and plenty of towels for your spa experience. In addition to a swimsuit, pack attire for other activities you plan to enjoy: light, comfortable clothing for fitness classes, gear and boots for hiking, along with another pair of comfortable shoes.

Therapists
In Austria, all therapists have to be properly trained for a minimum of 3 years before being fully qualified. Although many massage treatments are performed by men, you can always ask for a woman therapist if you prefer - don't hesitate to let your choice be known.

Weight loss
Chefs at Austria’s spa restaurants like to work with organic produce, but the Austrian spa philosophy is based on pampering, so gourmet cuisine and fine wines are the norm. That means that Austria’s Finest Spa Hotels & Resorts are not like ‘health farms’, where meals and portions are controlled to promote weight loss or detoxify the body. However, you can always request your own tailor-made weight loss and healthy eating programme at all the spas.

How to sauna and steam in Austria
Austria’s Spa Hotels offer unlimited access to a myriad of different steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs and plunge pools – all included in the room rates!

As well as men-only or women-only ‘heat and wet’ areas, there are also mixed saunas. Austrians have long preferred to sauna naked, the natural way... why not join them?
- in the sauna and steam room, you can drape yourself loosely with a towel if you want to ... or be naked.
- cover the bench where you are going to sit with a towel before you sit down.
- when walking to and from the hot rooms, slip on your bath robe or a towel - even dedicated Austrian sauna-goers cover-up.

Just relax. It’s the natural way.
