Austria Classic Tour: 3000 Fantastic Kilometer
At 100 kilometers per hour from the Wilder Kaiser mountain range in Tirol to Lake Königsee in Bavaria. Or at full speed from Enns to Baden and on to Rust. Or how about some thrilling hairpin bends? The Austria Classic Tour features something for bikers of all abilities and interests. The ten diverse day-trips, which range in length from 230 to 450km, link the “17 Historic Towns” and comprise windy panorama roads, steep Alpine passes, romantic streets, and sweeping hills. In addition there are 30 Biker Hotels along the route catering to the bikers’ every whim. They offer safe parking spaces, drying rooms, and plenty of information as the majority of the hotel owners are enthusiastic bikes themselves.
There is a route book available which contains road maps and city maps, and provides useful information on toll fees, altitudes, closed roads, the 30 Biker Hotels etc.

Lower Austria: A Tour of Discovery Along Moststraße Road
Perfect for the leisurely motor biker: Moststraße road is easily accessible from the A1 motorway, and leads through two dozens of towns in the Mostviertl hills in the southwest of Lower Austria. This part of the country is like a giant garden where perry pears are grown for the production of fruit juice and must. The landscape is characterized by hundred of thousands of fruit trees which luxuriate in this mild climate, as well as by idyllic villages and traditional farmsteads. The picturesque beauty of the hill country is best appreciated along the romantic panorama road between Behamberg and Kürnberg with the Empress Elisabeth vantage point affording spectacular views, the route between Ertl and Seitenstetten with Voralpenblick vantage point, and the route between Neuhofen and Euratsfeld boasting a number of charming hamlets.

Upper Austria: Around the Hausruck Mountains
Starting point of this 190km long route is Vöcklabruck. The itinerary takes you along B1 federal road past Attnang Puchheim, Schwanenstadt and Lambach to Wels where you pick up B137 federal road to Wallern, Bad Schallerbach and Grießkirchen. Continue along B141 to Ried im Innkreis, past Neuhofen and Pramet, across Hausruck to Frankenburg and on to St. Georgen in Attergau. The road from Grießkirchen onwards is famed for its amazing scenery. No less attractive is the section from the town of Attersee around the lake of the same name. The last stretch takes you along the B151from Seewalchen, to Lenzing, Timelkam and back to Vöcklabruck.

Tirolean Highs
Loads of hairpins to lean over make this tour challenging not only to the biker but also to the tires’ side tread. The 372km long route takes you from Mittersill in Salzburg along Felbertauern road and through Felbertauern tunnel to Matrei and on to Huben where can choose from three different routs. Route # 1: uphill through Kalsertal valley from where you enjoy fantastic views of the Alps. Route # 2: from Huben via Stallersattel or from Lienz and Sillian to the Italian Tirol. Stallersattel pass links the Austrian Defereggental valley with the Italian Antholzertal valley, and is open from mid May to the beginning of November daily 5.30am – 10.15pm. Route # 3: from Lienz to Bruneck. This route, which has many scenic attractions as well as challenging bends, takes you from Toblach, Brixen and Sterzing via Brenner pass to Innsbruck. B171 road leads past Hall in Tirol, Wattens and Schwaz to Strass. Via Gerlos pass and the Krimml waterfalls you get back to Mittersill.

Vorarlberg: Motorcycling in Austria’s West
Thanks to its diverse landscape, Vorarlberg is a true paradise for motorcyclists. One of the most popular roads is the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße from Partenen at the very end of the Montafon valley to Bielerhöhe pass at 2032m. The 23km road, which boasts a total of 32 sharp bends (six bends more than the twice as long Großglocknerstraße has), takes you past the walls of Vermuntsee reservoir to Madlener Haus and on to Silvretta reservoir. The over 100-year old Flexenstraße, protected against avalanches by numerous tunnels, takes you towards Lech and Zürs. Hochtannberg
between Schröcken and Warth is quite adventurous thanks to its many bends and hairpins: one entire bend “floats” above ground as a bridge! Bödelestraße was built in 1938 and affords magnificent views of Rheintal valley. The road leads past he popular Bödele ski area to Losen pass at 1148m above sea level. The federal road between Bregenz and Hörbranz follows the shores of Lake Constance trapped between the rail tracks and a hill. The scenery along all five routes is breathtaking and tempt for closer inspection on foot.

Styria: Along The Apple, Wine and Castle Roads
The most famous of Styria’s theme roads is the 260km long route from Gleisdorf along the B54 to Hartberg. This section is called “Steirische Apfelstraße” (Styrian Apple Route) for the over 1 million fruit trees which line the 25km long road. The heart of the region is the apple town of Puch, known for the production of fruit juice, must, schnapps, and honey, as well as handicrafts. On hot summer days nearby lake Stubenbergsee offers welcome refreshment. The tour continues on to Oberwart in Burgenland with its beautiful vineyards. Next towns along the route are Güssing, Heiligenkreuz, Eltendorf and Jennersdorf on the B57. Eltendorf is well worth a stop for the popular “Uhudler” wine trail up Hochkogel. The route’s last section is part of the Styrian “Schlösserstraße” (Castle Route) and covers the towns of Fehring, Feldbach, Ilz and Gleisdorf.

Styria: Around the Eisenerz Alps
Experience superb motorcycling on 220 kilometers from Hohentauern towards Möderbrugg and on to St. Oswald. A low-traffic road follows the shores of Gaalbach river and leads through various small towns to Seckau. Along the road you could make a quick trip to the A1 formula 1 track. Continue parallel to the motorway to Feistritz where you should change to the motorway to the St. Michael junction. Once back on the federal road pick up B113 towards Trieben and Liezen. In Traboch follow B115 towards Trofaiach. Continue northwards along the Austrian Eisenstraße to Hieflau. Further stages along the route: downriver to Altenmarkt, towards St. Gallen, via Sattel to Admont, in a southern direction along Lichtmessbach river, down to Paltental valley, and via Trieben back to the trailhead in Hohentauern.

Dachstein Loop through 3 Provinces
Start of the Dachstein Loop Trail is in Irdning. The route takes you through Styria, Salzburg and Upper Austria. After a magnificent view of Grimming mountain continue parallel to the Ennstal federal road to Stein an der Enns and, after a short stretch along the B 146, into the beautiful Ramsau region where you can revel in breathtaking views of Dachstein mountain. If you wish you can take in 6.3km long Dachsteinstraße along the way which has an altitude gain of 1150m and offers splendid views of the East Alps, beautiful plateaus, the majestic peaks of the Schladminger Tauern, and the awe-inspiring 1000m rock face of the Dachstein. End point of the Dachsteinstraße is the base station of the famous Dachstein-Südwand gondola soaring up to Hunerkogel top station at 2700m above sea level. The gondola covers 1000m in altitude without any towers! Hunerkogel is one of the East Alps most scenic view points at the edge of the eternal ice of Dachstein glacier. The route continues along the Salzburg Dolomitenstraße into Salzkammergut which his famous not only for its beautiful lakes. Insiders’ tip: a short trip to car-free Pürgg on your way back to Irdning.

Tour through Carinthia and Upper Styria
Steep mountain roads and great scenic beauty: this route takes you through northern Carinthia and adjoining Upper Styria. Starting point of this scenically beautifully route is Klagenfurt from where you continue along B70 towards Vienna until the B92 turns off. Follow the federal road via Brückl to Eberstein on the western end of Saualpe (worthwhile: a short detour to Steinerhütte). Via Klein St. Paul and Hüttenberg on to Neumarkt and along a narrow road to St. Lambrecht and Murau, where you can visit Grünfels castle. Continue along Murtal tracks westwards to Predlitz across Turracherhöhe pass and past lake Turrachsee. The less well-maintained road on the Carinthian side has a gradient of up to 23%, and is one of the steepest roads in Austria. Once you have crossed the Gurktal Alps there are the towns of Bad Kleinkirchheim, Radenthein, Afritz am Ossiacher See, Villach (with an interesting vehicle museum) and Velden am Wörthersee. The last stretch of the route takes you along the southern shores of lake Wörthersee to Klagenfurt. A last possible stop: Pyramidenkogel mountain overlooking the Carinthian lakes.
