Linz on Stage

Landestheater Linz
Landestheater Linz has been Upper Austria’s foremost theatrical institution for almost 200 years. The stages of the "Großes Haus" and the "Kammerspiele" present an extensive repertoire of dramas, operas, operettas, musicals as well as works of modern dance and ballet. Bold ventures into the creative realm of contemporary playwrights are designed to attract new audiences to allied venues - above all Eisenhand and u\hof. Regular productions of works geared to the tastes of young people are providing for the next generation of enthusiastic theatergoers.

Linzer Kellertheater
In 1949, at the initiative of Ernst Ernsthoff, some unemployed actors and actresses decided to take matters into their own hands: they founded a theater company to put on plays for the entertainment of the workforce at voestalpine, Austria's largest steel works. The upshot has been a theatrical success story in the truest sense of the word. The troupe has presented numerous world premieres and Austrian debut performances. For younger theatergoers, there’s an annual fairytale production.

Theater Unser
Theater Unser is an independent ensemble with no fixed venue of its own. Its watchwords: acting that emphasizes physicality, theatricality, choreography and authenticity.
