The arthotel Blaue Gans is the oldest inn in the city of Salzburg, dating back 660 years. Step by step, the house in the trendy museum district of Mozart's city was stylishly expanded to an arthotel. It boasts a prime location in the heart of the historic centre, which was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, and is only a short walk from Mozart’s birthplace. Today, the historic walls of the inn pop with modern design and contemporary art. What you find at arthotel Blaue Gans is a creative haven for the widely-travelled and the well-read. The hotel even has its own magazine, which you can enjoy with a cup of coffee - or a glass of wine.
Salzburg’s first arthotel was created by Andreas Gferer as an art-inspired meeting point for music and design lovers from all over the world. Maintaining great respect for the history of the building and the old walls, he has implemented new and unexpected things within them. The 35 rooms and suites of this urban hideaway are all individually designed with natural materials which have been mastered by local artisans. Owner Andreas Gfrerer extended centuries-old walls with works by contemporary artists - 120 works of art accompany guests during their stay.
Beyond the hotel, Mr. Gferer is known for his vision and commitment to Salzburg’s “old town” and its best interests.
