“It's so lovely because it's surrounded by these beautiful mountains we look right onto. It gives you the taste of freedom and also the quietness of the mountains.”

Lech Zürs am Arlberg in Vorarlberg

For a truly luxurious winter escape, Lech Zürs offers up Alpine life at its finest - from exciting culinary heights to scenic skiing on the legendary White Ring ski circuit. Begin the ski season with the Fantastic Gondolas artful light installations and end it in April with swing and jazz tunes at Tanzcafé Arlberg Music Festival. For over 120 years, Lech Zürs am Arlberg has created an elegant and sporty world of winter sports. Over time, the resort has evolved into Austria’s largest interconnected ski area, with top-notch guides and ski instructor to show the way. We asked local Markus Hahn for his advice on the experiences first-time guests should look out for.

“The ski resort of Lech Zürs is as diversified as it is huge. I always recommend that visitors ski the White Ring circuit because you see the whole ski resort and the most beautiful spots in one day.” And for anyone feeling the competitive spirit, the annual White Ring race each January is an event for the calendar.

2. Ski the legendary White Ring
This classic ski circuit links lovely Lech with Zürs, Zug and Oberlech by easy to medium grade slopes. Pause for epic views at Rüfikopf and Madloch during the half-day tour that covers 22km and 5,500 difference in altitude. Speed lovers can also enter the famous race each January.

3. View some magnificent vistas
Away from the hustle and bustle, solitude surrounds. Among the many glittering peaky viewpoints, the famous Zürser Täli route is a must. The cable car from Zürs rises to stunning panorama off Muggengratbahn, then a scenic ski descent down Zürser Täli leads you back to Zürs. Don’t miss an atmospheric schnapps stop at rustic Flexenhäusl.

4. Jump in a helicopter
There’s nothing like it. The only resort in Austria to offer heliskiing, two magnificent peaks await high above Lech Zürs. The Mehlsack summit is perfect for experienced skiers while the Schneetäli-Orgelscharte offers a slightly gentler pitch.
