Sölden is Fun On and Off Piste

0 / 0

Sölden: Just its name promises top quality on all levels - ranging from sports and activities to stunning hotels, fantastic dining, and unlimited entertainment programs. Never-ending innovation has become a kind of tradition at the "Hotspot in the Alps."

Sölden is the venue of the Alpine Ski World Cup and one of Europe's most renowned ski and snowboard resorts. The astounding number of downhills for all levels and abilities, coupled with the perfect grooming of 90 miles (144 km) of slopes make Sölden a one-of-a-kind winter sports center. Sölden boasts the marvelous BIG 3 vantage points - lookouts from the area's three tallest mountains. These snow-covered giants earn Sölden the status of being Austria's only ski area with 3 mountains that tower above 3,000 meters, or 9,842 feet.

Snow is guaranteed from October through May thanks to the high Alpine location of the slopes (4,429 ft - 10,958 ft / 1,350 m - 3,340 m), two glacier ski areas at Rettenbach & Tiefenbach, and artificial snow-making systems covering more than 77% of downhills. Over 30 huts and mountain restaurants open their doors to visitors with a warm welcome and menus full of hearty Alpine fare and regional specialties. Rustic mountain huts, trendy umbrella bars, and gourmet restaurants cater to suit all tastes. A great après-ski ambience is guaranteed as well at the range of nightlife spots in the village. They call Sölden "Hotspot in the Alps" for a reason.

The Ötztal Super Skipass comprises all Ötztal Ski Areas in a single Ticket. It bundles 221 miles (356 km) of slopes, 90 mountain lifts, and six ski areas in a single pass. Visitors who purchase a ski pass for 3 days or mor can choose from well-known winter destinations such as Sölden and Gurgl, family-friendly ski mountains like Hochötz-Kühtai, or three more ski areas spread all over Ötztal.

James Bond in Sölden – Spectre-cular!

007 ELEMENTS

The interactive exhibition "007 ELEMENTS “ on the Gaislachkogl in Sölden gives insight into the filming activities for the James Bond film “Spectre”.

James Bond films have certain characteristics: fast cars, breakneck action scenes and spectacular locations. All of these signature elements will be explored in the installation. The filming of “Spectre” in Sölden, of course, plays the leading role, but other parts of the Bond series will be featured as well.
