“I can highly recommend the Vineyard Tour! A combination of flat and hilly terrain, and a mixture of marshland and vineyards.”

One of the 8 tour segments sets off in Graz, Styria’s capital. A great way to begin your journey is a breakfast on top of Graz' city mountain, the Schlossberg. Restaurant aiola serves great food and has a terrace that overlooks the city’s medieval roofs.

Or what about a picnic in of a vineyard at Tinnauer tavern? Purchase a basket stocked with hearty ham, cheese, flaky pastries and a bottle of Tinnauer’s whites, and find a sunny spot between the vines.

A Styrian specialty you are certain to encounter on the wine route is pumpkin seed oil. Once you have tried the nutty, rich oil on a salad you will understand why Austrians call it "black gold." Visit Hartlieb oil mill to find out how the high-quality pumpkin seed, apricot kernel, and hazelnut oils are produced. Grab a bottle of freshly squeezed oil for the road.
