Packed with interesting stops and great panoramic views, this 75-mile hiking route runs from Austria to Hungary. The entire tour takes six days (with daily stages of 9 – 13 miles) from the alpine surroundings of the Semmering area via the forested mountains of the Bernstein and Güns ranges, and finally down to the flat vineyards by Kőszeg in Hungary. At the heart of the experience is the originality of the region’s people and places. This is reflected for example in the simple, natural design of the lookout points and rest areas, as well as in the hospitality which guests enjoy. The many hosts along the way provide travelers with great tales and fine fare. “Crossing borders” is the philosophy behind the alpannonia® project, which is sure to please with its unique array of landscapes, regional characters and national differences.
