Built during three epochs – Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque – the castle tells an interesting story of more than 700 years of Styrian history and aristocratic family tradition. Thanks to the enclosed wildlife park the castle developed into a major tourist attraction. An additional highlight is the new historic garden, today a garden of temperaments with a green, white, yellow and blue garden complemented with a morning, noon, afternoon and evening garden.
Two museums complete the offering: The museum with sculptures of Bruno Gironcoli, one of Austria’s most famous artists of the present as well as the “Kunsthaus” (art house) in which international artists are represented. www.herberstein.co.at www.gironcoli-museum.com
