Winter in Styria

In the winter, a number of attractive destinations are waiting to be discovered between the mountains of the north and the hot springs of the south. Skiers can explore 860 kilometres of slopes in the area of Schladming, host of Styria’s main winter sport event, World Cup Men’s Night Slalom an in 2013 the World Alpine Ski Championships. In Turracherhöhe, winter guests enjoy butler service on the slopes, in Stuhleck, nostalgic skiers can get acquainted with skiing techniques of former centuries and in Ausseerland, you can step from an alpine hut village directly to the slopes. Besides, Styria has developed into a veritable Nordic ski centre following the triumphs of cross-country world champion Alois Stadlober and the province now has 16 “Nordic ski villages” providing excellent cross-country courses.
