Australia’s new “poster girl” is from Vienna
From 18 June to 9 October the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is hosting one of the richest exhibitions of the Art Nouveau ever conceived. Vienna: Art & Design includes over 250 masterpieces by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Josef Hoffmann and Adolf Loos, most never before seen in Australia.
On the occasion of last week's official opening, NGV Director Gerard Vaughan welcomed Astrid Mulholland-Licht, Director of the Austrian National Tourist Office and Norbert Kettner, Director of the Vienna Tourist Board. "With 'Vienna: Art & Design' the NGV has brought Austria's most precious artworks to Australia. The exhibition traces the development of Vienna's golden period from the late 1890s to about 1918 in art, design and architecture. This is the perfect timing also in the lead up to ‘Klimt Year 2012'," says Astrid Mulholland-Licht, Director of the Austrian National Tourist Office, Australia / New Zealand.
An exclusive dinner with a private viewing for ANTO and Vienna Tourist Board partners was just the kick-off for a number of events related to the exhibition during the upcoming months.
On the occasion of the exhibition, Tempo Holidays is running a special promotion for its "Classic Vienna - Art & Design" Package: Agents who book their clients for this package will receive 2 tickets for the NGV exhibition, donated by the Austrian National Tourist Office.
