St. Anton am Arlberg is both an ideal mountain biking region as well as a great starting point for road racing tours like the gruelling ARLBERG Giro.

After making your home base at 1300m in the friendly small town of St. Anton, you’ll be ready to explore a very good 200km mountain biking trail network that showcases the lovely alpine scenery of this Tirolean recreational region.

Known as the "cradle of alpine ski", the area around St. Anton am Arlberg is also the starting point for several elite cycling events during the summer. The ARLBERG Giro is a 148km long-distance road race beginning in St. Anton am Arlberg and crossing Austria’s western Alps, challenging riders over a 2400m difference in course altitude as they negotiate the Arlberg Pass, Bludenz, Montafon, the Silvretta High Alpine Road and Paznauntal Valley before heading back to St. Anton. Register now for this year’s event taking place on 2nd August 2015.

But don't worry, not all cycle holidays end at a finish line here, as there are routes catering for all abilities in St. Anton. From gentle trails through rolling meadows, to more demanding mountain climbs for the more seasoned, all routes are well-signposted, indicating difficulty level and distance.
