Tiroler Zugspitz Golf Lermoos-Ehrwald and Golfclub Mieminger Plateau have both been extended, giving a great selection of holes around the Zugspitze glacier. Golf and Country Club Achensee is Tirol’s oldest golf club, dating all the way back to 1934. The 9-hole Innsbruck-Igls/Lans is just one year younger. And then there is Golfclub Seefeld-Wildmoos which is one of the Tirol’s best.
The cross-border 18-hole Golfclub Reit im Winkel e.V. - Kössen sits on a sunny plateau at 750m above sea level with a wonderful view of the Chiemgauer and Tirolean mountains. High tee in Austria is a drive from the towering 3rd tee at Kitzbühel’s Golfclub Eichenheim, ranked among Europe’s Top 20 golf clubs by the Peugeot Golf Guide. The mountain scenery from every part of the course is stunning.
During the annual Kitzbühel Golf Festival in June, golfers play down the famous Hahnenkamm ski run, ending on the 9-hole Rasmushof course. With the additional motivation of the magnificent mountains, physical realities like handicaps are no longer insurmountable in Kitzbühel. The formula – “4 courses in town and 19 nearby” – is just another way of saying, “Welcome to Kitzbühel! Welcome to the world of golf!” Driving, chipping and putting between the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain, the Schwarzsee Lake and Streif – golf in Kitzbühel has its own special allure.
