In 2007 the native German came to Carinthia with her husband Dirk Jordan to realize their dream of opening their own small hotel with a private gallery. The two former advertising executives discovered the 300-year-old Rohrerhof farm, located in the middle of the Verditz ski area, while riding on the ski lift. After purchasing the building, they spent 364 days renovating and redesigning the structure and ridding it of its “modern” additions. Today the old Rohrerhof is a true work of art, featuring a total of ten individually furnished rooms and suites as well as the owners’ extensive painting and sculpture collection, which is distributed throughout the entire building as well as the garden. The Art Lodge also has its own restaurant, which serves up delectable slow food made with organic, locally-grown products.

No less environmentally conscious is the swimming pond: which replaces the usual hotel swimming pool and, together with a sauna and an infrared cabin in the former carpentry shed, serves as a small wellness area. An attractive feature for skiers: if the small ski area in front of the hotel proves insufficiently challenging, a four-day ski pass allows you to ski “senza confini” (without borders) in six Italian resorts as well as in Bovec, Slovenia. And if you want the Art Lodge all for yourself and your friends or extended family, it is possible to book the entire hotel for your vacation.
