Jagawirt
Our recommendations

The Jagawirt is perched way up in the wooded sectors and wine regions of west Styrian Reinischkogel. Unlikely as it may seem, this is an aged institution. Moreover, it fulfills every promise it makes.

Dinner at the Jagawirt in Styria is a very typical affair - and not to be missed.

Even the concentrated attentions of local and national celebrities have not damaged this restaurant in the slightest. The Jagawirt is and remains the Jagawirt. The hosts, Maria and Werner Goach, make sure that nothing changes on that score. They have been supervising things for decades and don’t have any intentions of letting go or letting up. In the intimate, charming wood panelled dining rooms, country cuisine oriented both to region and to season is served. Lamb and wild boar are often in evidence on the menu, all of which comes from their own farm or the immediate surroundings. Even the brandies are distilled by Werner Goach himself. And besides the restaurant operations, a number of small houses and farmsteads also belong to the Jagawirt kingdom: beautifully restored Styrian farmhouses which provide lots of room to stay overnight in, for celebrations, private parties or seminars.
