It comes very near to a culinary law that the quality of a kitchen’s products is inversely proportional to the quality of the view: the better the view, the worse the food. This place is a notable exception to the rule. At the Schönblick Inn on the Eichenberg, from whose terrace you gaze out over the lake at the magnificent sunset in ways you are not likely to forget, patron Karlheinz Hehle is a consequent craftsman of elevated regional cuisine. Fish from the lake, cheese from nearby Bregenzerwald (matured himself in his own cheese cellar), country veal and alpine pork all play important parts.
