The resort is the result of over 400 years of hospitality, beginning in 1640 as the "Taverne Unterrain." For centuries, it served as a vital postal station and guesthouse before being acquired by the Öschlberger family in 1955. In 1985, Matthäus Unseld took over his grandparents' 25-room inn and transformed it into today’s premier 4-star Superior resort. This deep historical responsibility drives the family to constantly innovate, moving away from the traditional, dated feel of old-fashioned family hotels toward a modern, design-forward sanctuary.
