Your Winter in Carinthia
The sunny side of the Alps
Welcome to the sunny side of the Alps! If you're heading to Carinthia for your winter holiday, good weather is almost guaranteed. After all, Austria's southernmost province has more sunshine hours in winter than any other Austrian ski destination (more than 100 to be precise!).
Carinthia's 24 ski resorts score with 800 km of slopes for both beginners and experienced skiers (and easy access to more in East Tirol) as well as tons of activities away from the pistes. Bringing the kids? You'll feel straight at home as the province is known to be particularly family-friendly, with mascots such as Heidi and life-size animals accompanying children taking their first turns. And if you just want to relax and unwind, that's ok too - Carinthia is a top wellness destination!
Spend your days skiing, skating or going for a swim in a heated outdoor pool, then indulge in the local Slow Food cuisine - that's what a winter holiday in Carinthia looks like!

Classic hut food or traditional local cuisine: In Carinthia, foodies get to enjoy the best of both worlds. The area is known for its down-to-earth dishes, think Kärntner Nudeln (Carinthian pasta pockets) or Reindling (yeast dough cake), but equally as a Slow Food region.
Insider's Tip
Connecting the five ski resorts of Katschberg, Innerkrems, Turrach, Falkert, and Bad Kleinkirchheim/St. Oswald, the Nockberge Trail is suitable for ski tourers who are in good shape, but do not want to tackle high alpine sections. The 5 daily stages take up to 6 hours to complete each. Some of the steeper sections can be avoided by taking lifts and cable cars.
Luggage and shuttle services are available along the trail. You’ll sleep in top-notch wellness hotels instead of dormitories and enjoy excellent Alpine-Adriatic cuisine.
