Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl is the highest ski area in the Salzburg Sport World, a World Cup venue with regular AUDI Fis women's speed races. If you're looking for a snow-sure region boasting rapid descents, exciting freeriding, and adrenaline kicks in the fun parks, you'll love it straight away. There's also a brand-new gondola lift up the Schwarzwand.

Radstadt-Altenmarkt is a great place for families, leisurely skiers and beginners. Kemahdhöhe especially has many suitable pistes.

And if you're done skiing for the day, go for a leisurely winter hike, head to the Amadé Adventure Spa in Altenmarkt or get some souvenirs in the village's 80 shops before popping into a traditional inn.

The closest airports are Salzburg (65 km) and Munich, Germany (235 km).

By train/bus:
Take a train to Salzburg (approx. 1,5 h, 8 times a day) or Bischofshofen (approx. 24 min, multiple times a day).

Both stations are served by EuroCity (EC) and InterCity (IC) trains.

By car:
From Salzburg: Take the A10 Tauern motorway in the direction of Villach/Graz (65 km).

From Vienna: Take the A1 Westautobahn (West motorway) in the direction of Salzburg, then continue as above (via the A10 Tauern motorway).

From Germany: Coming via the A8 motorway, take the Walserberg border crossing. Continue on the A10 Tauern motorway in the direction of Villach/Graz.

Yes, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee is a great choice for a family ski holiday. There are many blue runs and dedicated family skiing areas, e.g. on the Kemahdhöhe in Radstadt-Altenmarkt: 17 km of easy slopes, seven lifts, the "Fichtelland" fun park for children, a fun slope, and a timed track. In Zauchensee-Flachauwinkel each of the three ski mountains has a blue slope leading down to the World Cup arena.

The 3 ski schools in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee offer courses for kids from the age of 3.
