Lentil stew with bacon and bread dumplings

A traditional Austrian recipe perfect on cold winter days.

    Hot make it:

    Lentils with bacon

    Step 1:

Soak lentils and cook until soft (or use 2 cans of lentils).

    Step 2:

Chop onions and fry in plenty of oil. Dice bacon and fry. Dust with about 2 tablespoons flour and extinguish with vinegar.

    Step 3:

Add lentils and pour about 250 ml of soup. Add salt and pepper and simmer for about 20 minutes. Add more soup if necessary if it gets too thick.

    Bread dumplings

    Step 1:

Chop onion and sauté in butter. Mix all ingredients, add salt and pepper. Season with nutmeg. Let mixture stand for 30 minutes.

    Step 2:

Form dumplings with wet hands and roll in flour.

    Step 3:

Boil dumplings in salted water for 15-20 minutes. At the beginning the water should really bubble, then just ripple.

Our Tipp: leave out the bacon to make it veggie.
