    Experience Burgenland. Savour the powerful.

Extensive vineyards, warm hospitality and culinary treasures: This is the culinary landscape between Lake Neusiedl, steppe country and wine idyll. The Pannonian Plain in Burgenland invites you on a journey of discovery for gourmets and wine lovers.

    Powerful under the sun

Anyone who talks about the cuisine of Burgenland will encounter the word "Pannonian". On the menus you can find "Pannonian fish soup", a dish with paprika and pike perch or catfish from Lake Neusiedl. Here we are talking about the climate of the Pannonian Plain, which is considered to be warm, dry, mild and with little rainfall. Steppe cattle, Mangalitsa pigs and grazing geese, but also vegetables such as peppers, tomatoes or chilies grow under the sun. Perhaps it is also the birdsongs that trigger the feeling of well-being in Seewinkel. A breeding ground for creative chefs who combine traditional dishes with regional ingredients.

Farmers even grow rice and soy for tofu and saffron to avoid long delivery routes and to try out food trends. Powerful red wines such as the Blaufränkisch grape variety grow in Central Burgenland and unfold the sun in the glass thanks to the knowledge and manual skills of the winemakers. In the south of Burgenland, in the country inns and wine taverns, hosts serve up regional specialties. Whether in the north, in the center or in the south: Burgenland means living and enjoying on the sunny side.
