Changes to border traffic with Hungary and Slovakia from 5 April 2025 until approximately 30 May 2025

As a precautionary measure in response to the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in neighbouring countries, Hungary and Slovakia, veterinary border controls may be carried out when crossing the border until 30 May 2025. Please expect possible delays. The import ban from the designated restricted zone in Hungary will also remain in effect until 30 May 2025.

Closure of the Tauern Route

Due to extensive construction work on the ÖBB Tauern Tunnel, the Tauernbahn car shuttle service between Böckstein and Mallnitz-Obervellach will also be closed from 18 November 2024 until 4 July 2025 inclusive.

Construction on the new Lueg Bridge

For traffic safety reasons and to reduce the strain on the Lueg Bridge, traffic will be reduced to a single lane in both directions from 1 January 2025. On days with high traffic volumes, a temporary two-lane system will be implemented using a special traffic management setup to minimise long delays and congestion.
