Coach and Group Trips in Times of Coronavirus
A second lockdown is currently in effect throughout Austria. Hotels are closed to leisure travellers/tourists during that period.
The below rules will be in effect again after the lockdown period.
Are there limited numbers for group trips?
There are no limits on group size when travelling on a coach or staying at a hotel. However, there may be limits for certain activities such as guided museum tours (max. 6 people). Similarly, groups cannot be larger than 6 people when visiting a restaurant.
Are there specific requirements for coach trips?
As on public transport, a face mask must be worn on coach trips.
Am I allowed to share a room with those from other households?
With how many people can I share a holiday home/apartment/hut?
There is no limit. All available beds may be used, including by people from different households.
What is the maximum group size allowed in restaurants?
Please find all regulations for restaurants here.
How many people can take part in a guided museum tour?
Guided indoor tours (e. g. at a museum) are limited to 6 people.
Can more than 6 people from the same group visit a museum at the same time?
Yes. However, museums may limit the number of people permitted inside to ensure the appropriate social distance, so it's best to reserve tickets online.
How many people can take part in a guided city tour?
Outdoors, tours can have up to 12 participants (guide included).
What happens if I am experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or someone else in the group is?
Should you or someone else experience symptoms or suspect you may be infected whilst in Austria, please avoid crowds of people and public transport. Self-isolate and call the health advice hotline on 1450. The advisors will be able to tell you what to do next.
