I want to eat amazing food

In Austria, the best food is often waiting where you least expect it: On your hike, you might come across a small mountain hut occupied by a single old lady who has spent her entire life in these mountains. She doesn't speak English, but gestures for you to come in. And then she serves you the most delicious apple strudel you've ever had the pleasure of tasting, the cinnamon-y fruity goodness melting in your mouth. Brettljause in Wildschönau, Tirol

After a day of hiking, I definitely have earned this ‘Brettljause’, a traditional ham & cheese platter.

    Käsespätzle and Skiing in Lech

"I would definitely recommend other travellers to try the Austrian cuisine and dishes like Käsespätzle or Kaiserschmarren. In Lech, I would also recommend to walk from Lech to Zug along the river... the landscape is just stunning! I would also recommend to ski the so-called Weisse Ring which takes you round Lech and Zürs."

A Brunch With a View in Innsbruck, Tirol

"We spent a weekend in Innsbruck, the capital of Tirol, and had a great brunch at Restaurant Seegrube on Nordkette. The amazing view over the city of Innsbruck combined with a delicious glass of prosecco (in combination with the rest of a great brunch selection) on the terrace was simply remarkable."

Hot Chocolate in Hallstatt & a Lakeside Walk in Gosau, Upper Austria

"Once we arrived in Hallstatt on a quiet October morning, we just walked the charming streets of Hallstatt and enjoyed some hot chocolate near the market square. Later, around noon, we stopped for lunch at the ‘World heritage inn’ – Steegwirt. A restaurant I can highly recommend for its cosy and traditional ambience, its very friendly hospitality and its delicious dishes for a good value.
Since neither my boyfriend nor me are very sporty people, we decided to finish off the day by walking leisurely around the beautiful, dark green ‘Vorderer Gosausee’ lake."

Hiking, Cake, and Beer in Tirol

"Staying at the wonderful Hotel Zentral in Kirchberg in Tirol, you can walk in the valleys or on the mountain tops. Kitzbühel is only 6 km away. Catch the local bus up to the little village of Aschau; from there you can walk towards the Grosser Rettenstein and either go up the left valley to Klooalm for wonderful homemade cake or go right up to Labalm for excellent food and beer."

"Last summer, I went to Styria (to the area of Stainz) for a wedding. After the celebration we had some time to explore the surroundings of the wedding location so we walked up and down these wonderful hills, had great views over the vineyards of the region and then had local food in a very nice “Heurigen”. I can recommend the huge styrian Krapfen (pastry)!"

Lunch in the Clouds in Innsbruck
